Afro-fusion artiste Burna Boy has made a lot of waves over the past two years, gaining international attention and fandom with his iconic crossover appeal and raspy vocals. Even with all his achievements, it seems like he has a lot more in store for his fans. Well, Burna Boy now owns a bank!
On Monday, 12th August 2019, Spotify announced that it has teamed up with Burna Boy to launch ‘Burna Bank.’ Inspired by the artwork for the African Giant album, the music streaming company gives a little insight into what ‘Burna Bank’ is.
“The installation features a unique ATM which will be dispensing custom, collectible bills designed by Sajjad Musa. Each bill is inspired by Burna’s Nigerian roots, and his quest to call out corruption and the disproportionate distribution of wealth.”
Burna Boy launched the bank yesterday, 13th August 2019, at 419 Tompkins Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11216. ‘Burna Bank’ will take the form of an ATM. It will be on the site till Sunday, 18th August 2019.
We are yet to confirm the detailed purpose of the said Burna Bank. But hopefully, the socially conscious message he is trying to pass across will reach his audience loud and clear.
