Dell Technologies announced a new storage solution, Dell EMC PowerScale, that provides a combination of both storage software and server hardware. Dell EMC PowerScale will be an important innovation for companies as there is currently a need for more storage space.
According to a Storage Review report, companies can use Dell EMC PowerScale for a variety of purposes. The company launched the new storage platform as a hybrid of its server hardware and storage software. Thus, customers will no longer have to choose one option over another as it provides access to both of them.
Dell Technologies says that these PowerScale solutions do more than manage storage, they help to manage data.
It uses an operating system known as OneFS. According to a Dell Technologies description; OneFS is unique because it provides enhanced performance with massive scalability to support the most demanding of file-based workloads. It also uses Dell EMC DataIQ; a software that helps analyst analyse unstructured data.

Using Dell EMC PowerScale also offers customers the advantage of scaling without disruption. The storage clusters can scale from 11TB to 60PB without causing downtime for customers. In fact, the report claims that users can add a node to PowerScale clusters in 60 seconds.
It is also touted for its resilience and efficiency. Up to 85% of storage capacity can be used and it can stay active even during multi-node failures. Its intelligent automation also enables it to distribute resources so that customers get the best from clusters.
Since it runs on the latest version of OneFS, the 9.0 edition, the storage can run many applications without issues. Also, customers can make different deployment choices because of the flexibility of this storage. You can experience an interactive demo that provides a walkthrough of the Dell EMC PowerScale here.
