Cybersecurity Giant, McAfee Appoints Peter Leav As New CEO

McAfee has made Peter Leav its new chief executive officer. The cybersecurity giants confirmed their new CEO’s appointment on 16th January 2020 saying that Leav will join the company. His appointment will be effective on 3rd February 2020. He will relieve former CEO, Chris Young.

 

Leav was previously the president and CEO of BMC Software and Polycom. He was also the executive vice president for NCR Corporation. He made it easier for customers to apply artificial intelligence to IT operations through a new version of its TrueSight AIOps platform.

“I am delighted to be joining McAfee at this exciting time for the company and am looking forward to working with the team to pursue the significant growth opportunities ahead,” Leav said in a statement.

 

“McAfee is one of the largest, most important cybersecurity brands in the world, with a commitment to innovation and excellence.”

Former CEO, Young initially joined Intel in 2014, with McAfee as a company under intel. He helped turn McAfee into a standalone company, removing it from under the Intel umbrella.

“It has been a privilege to work with the McAfee team, and I am very proud of the results we have delivered for our customers, partners, employees, and investors,” Young said in a statement.

 

He also added:

 

“I look forward to continued involvement with McAfee in an advisory capacity through TPG Capital, and I am confident in the company’s future.”

 

The company said Young will also assist during the leadership transition and after which he plans to join TPG Capital as a senior adviser.

 

Leav currently sits on the board of the cloud content management vendor, Box. He helps to drive its strategic vision and execute his role with operational rigor. He also sits on the board of Proofpoint. Helping the rising email security firm scale its business in order to drive long-term growth and profitability.
