Covid-19 Update March 22: Nigeria Confirms Seven New Cases Of Coronavirus

Nigeria has confirmed 7 new cases of Covid-19. The announcement came via the Nigerian Center for Disease Control (NCDC) official Twitter page.

 

“One new case of #COVID19 has been confirmed in FCT, Nigeria,” the NCDC wrote.

 

“As at 05:28 pm on the 22nd of March, there are 30 confirmed cases of #COVID19 in Nigeria, 2 have been discharged with no deaths” it added in a later statement.

 

 

One case of this case was in Abuja while 6 others in Lagos. This brings the count of cases to 30.

Church And Mosques Flout Directives,Hold Services

Despite the “no gathering of more than 50 persons” directive in Lagos and Ogun, some mosques and churches still held services . Large gatherings for Jumat Services took place in these states on Friday.

 

 

Some churches such as catholic and Mountain of Fire Ministries (MFM) amongst others followed the directive and held services via streaming apps.

 

But, some churches were reported to have held services within their walls.

 

This has raised the concerns of Nigerians on the risk of such gatherings poses to the general public.

 

 

Social Media users have taken to their pages to express their disappointment at  religious leaders who are going against better judgement and continue to hold church services in the face of Covid-19 outbreak.
