Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the danger associated with in-person events, Comic-Con won’t be hosting its regular in-person annual gathering this year. This is the second year in a row that the organisation behind the event, Comic-con International is canceling the event for the same reason.

However, it will host an in-person event on the books for this fall. The event will work to compliment the limited online versions it will be hosting in the coming months.

Comic-Con International had announced that a three-day, in-person event in November 2021. The event will hold in San Diego, Comic-Con’s usual venue for its biggest annual summer event at the city’s convention center.

The organisation has not announced the size or scope of the event; however, it should hold between 26th November 2021 to 28th November 20201 according to NBC News.

“As the timing and scope of our larger event factored greatly into our decision to postpone, we believe that launching a smaller in-person event at a later time may be a safe alternative. For this reason, we are happy to announce that San Diego Comic Convention is planning to present a three-day in-person convention in San Diego in November. At this time, we are still working on specific details as to attendance capacity, badge cost, and related information, and those details will be forthcoming,” Comic-Con International said in a press release.

Comic-Con draws over 130,000 people to its events, generating millions of dollars in revenue. It says Comic-Con 2021 rolled-over tickets will be valid for the next in-person event in 2022; if you bought the ticket to the 2020 event that didn’t hold.
