Christmas Gift For Techies: A Guide To The Perfect Budget-Friendly Gift

Gifts are generally dependent on how the receiver sees them, so a Christmas gift for techies doesn’t have to be extravagant. A well-thought-of gesture may be more appreciated than an expensive thoughtless one.

The key to giving the perfect gift is to put the receiver in mind. If you want to give a techie a gift, you have to know what the person likes or dislikes, at least to some extent. In this article, we classify techies as tech workers.

Generally, experts or enthusiasts in the technology field. Computer analysts, tech writers, video or audio editors, and programmers all fall under this category. Buying them a better laptop or some other high-end device may obviously be most appreciated, but what if the money is hard to come by?

Well, if you want to give anyone that is related to the field described above a gift and your budget is limiting, these suggestions will help.

Home Cooked Meal

It may not look like much but techies generally spend a lot of time in front of their workstations. The result is limited time to cook proper meals, thus, they rely on junks. A special home-cooked meal during the Christmas season will be a huge gesture of love and warmth. It is important to know their preferences beforehand.

When it comes to gadgets, it is really difficult to know what to gift a techie. A new charger may not be really appreciated if he or she already has a trusted and reliable one. However, no one can turn down a gift of good headphones. Remember to check specifications and recommendations when deciding on which to buy.

Collection of Short Fiction or Poems

Because there may not be enough time to enjoy full-length books, buy a collection of stories or poems instead. Going back to retrace where one stopped in a book can be stressful, especially trying to remember the storyline and preceding events. So, if you want to buy a book for a loved one in the tech industry, choose collections. They are easier to read as one can quickly finish a short story or poem, and return to start an entirely new one without going through the stress of retracing. Give the perfect books as a Christmas gift to techies.

Fancy Scarves and Sweaters

The proper working environment for techies may be colder than normal. When mind-deep into a job, some would not appreciate the distraction of adjusting the air conditioner unit’s settings. Why not get them sweaters or scarves to keep them warm? And not just any. Fancy scarves and sweaters like patterned ones, knitted or one with something they can relate to inscribed on it would be a lovely gift.

Comfortable Shoes and Socks

Techies generally prefer sneakers to corporate shoes. Most times their appearance is not what they are hired for but their ability. They need comfortable shoes. However, most are helpless in selecting them because of time and lack of bargaining skills. If you can take care of this aspect of their lives, it would be absolutely appreciated.

Socks are also important. So, when buying a loved one good shoes, throw in some fancy looking colourful socks as well.

Take Them Out

Exhausted all the options above and nothing sticks? Take them out then. It is that simple, but a loving gesture. Some have to work long hours and never seem to be able to leave their workstation. You can help them take that much-needed break by taking them out. Even on a low budget, you can find nice places to take a loved one to, during the Christmas period.

Wine and Cakes

No one that says no to wine will say no to cake, and vice versa. In many instances, people appreciate the two. Why not squeeze this widely appreciated gifts into your budget? Show up or surprise them with a package containing a mildly alcoholic (depending on the receiver’s taste) wine and cake.

You best know who you are giving the gift to, so you can tick the suggestion(s) you think will work and start planning towards it/them. Christmas gift for techies should be tailored especially for them.
