Choosing to shave your legs is a personal matter. Contrary to what some may think, it does not make it grow back thicker.

There are no medical benefits to shaving your legs. Many women and some men simply prefer the look and feel of a hair-free leg.

Some people prefer shaved legs because they feel smooth or s**y. Hairless legs are also a benefit when applying moisturiser or exfoliating the skin. Hair won’t get in the way of lotion absorption or the sloughing off of dead skin cells.

Bodybuilders often shave the hair off of their legs and entire body because it gives muscles and skin a clean look.

For the rest of us, hairless legs might simply feel cleaner. Young girls looking to fit in socially typically start shaving around puberty, but there are no medical benefits to this.

For all our single ladies who are hairy and want to shave those legs perfectly, here are the tips below.

  • Wet and lather up your legs with shaving cream or hair conditioner to help make the hair soft.
  • Get your shaving stick; make sure its rust-free, sharp and dry.
  • Shave against the direction your hair grows in (shave from the ankle upwards). But don’t do this if you have sensitive skin.
  • Rinse your shaving stick at intervals and repeat the steps.
  • After shaving all the hairs on your legs, rinse with lukewarm water.
  • Pat legs dry and moisturise.
