What is Stiff-Person Syndrome?

According to Yale Medicine website, stiff-person syndrome is a neurological disorder that causes rigidity and spasms in the trunk and limbs. Its symptoms include stiffening in the torso and limbs, along with episodes of severe muscle spasms, which could lead a sufferer to fall. Episodes of spasms can be triggered by loud noise, cold temperatures or sudden movement.

It is an autoimmune disease, which means that the body’s natural defense system can’t tell the difference between your own cells and foreign cells, causing the body to mistakenly attack normal cells.

The treatment for stiff-person syndrome include medications and immunotherapy, also, medical professionals could prescribe aqua, occupational, and physical therapy. However, it is one disorder that is not curable.

In her statement, Céline Dion added that she has been undergoing sports medicine therapy. She has already built a legacy that we may not see another vocalist replicate in her lifetime and she is set to appear in a romantic comedy titled Love Again, alongside Priyanka Chopra Jonas.
