Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has added a splash screen message to a new update with the message, Black Lives Matter. Infinity Ward is making users update their clients upon finishing multiplayer games after which they get the message.

Black Lives Matter also appears every time players launch Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on a PS4. It can also be seen on loading screens and when switching to a separate mode, like Warzone.

“Our community is hurting. The systemic inequalities our community experiences are once again center stage. Call of Duty and Infinity Ward stand for equality and inclusion. We stand against the racism and injustice our Black community endures. Until change happens and Black Lives Matter, we will never truly be the community we strive to be,” Infinity says in a statement.

Infinity Ward had earlier promised to do more to tackle racism in its military shooters. In a statement posted on Twitter, the company identified new ways it will “do a better job”.

This includes making more efforts to monitor and identify racist content, more in-game reporting systems, and increasing the number of bans per hour.

It will also add more content filters and tighter limits on name changes. Furthermore, it is “evaluating” what changes would help users report offenders and increase permanent bans to deter repeat offenders.

The Black Lives Matter movement has been loud in response to the death of George Floyd. Protests have since then broken out in 50 states in the US in the demand for justice.
