The musician had come under fire from fans over his initial silence and absence from the protests. This is because Burna Boy makes social conscious music. Many expected him to walk the talk and were disappointed when it seemed he was a no-show. They didn’t spare him the lashing on social media and also banned his music from being played at protests.

The singer has now revealed his mother, Bose Ogulu who also doubles as his manager had a major surgery during the first week of the protests. Hence, he couldn’t join in.

He also in his tweet shared on October 12th that he never said anything because he doesn’t like sharing his personal life with the public.

His tweet read:

“I was Dealing with a Personal Family issue at the Beginning of these Protests. My mum Had Serious Surgery last week! We were all invested in making sure she recovers! I am not about that “put it all out on social media” life. We decided the focus must solely be on this protest.”
