In another moment of Nigerian-Excellence, Burna Boy has emerged winner of the Best International Act in the BET Awards 2020.

Recall that he was also nominated for and won the award in 2019. We will not forget in a hurry the powerful speech his mother, Bose Ogulu gave as she accepted the award for him, saying all Africans must not forget their roots.

The “Ye” crooner has broken records with the win as he becomes the first African to win the award two times in a row.

This year, for the first time since inception, the BET Awards was hosted virtually because of the ongoing pandemic. Supermodel Naomi Campbell presented Burna Boy with his award. Watch it below.

Here’s his acceptance speech:

“Thank you so much, BET. I’d like to use this opportunity to say that sometime around 1835, there was a mission to turn Africa, the nations of Africa, into a dominated nation. Now is the time to go back to the royalty that we were. In other for black lives to matter, Africa must matter. Thank you very much BET, preciate it.”

Congratulations to Oluwaburna! Thank you for bringing it home once again.
