Recall that few days ago, Brymo took to His Twitter page to assert the the Ibo’s are not ready for presidency

He further suggested that the region test the waters with vice presidency

His statements won’t have really being a problem if he didn’t say “F*ck the Indigbo’s, to hell with them”

This therefore caused an uproar within the easterners, as they began an online petition against Brymo

The Easterners began to rally for 50,000 signatures to s***p Brymo from winning the “Best Songwriter” category, which He was nominated for at this year’s Afrima Award

As at Sunday, January 15th 2023, 42,000 persons already signed the petition

And we guess this forced the singer’s hand to tender and apology to the Ibo’s

He begged them to forgive his assertions that came across as bigoted spewings against the Igbo tribe.

Brymo stated that he didn’t mean to harm them hence, his apology.

“Forgive my assertions that came across as bigoted spewings against the Igbo tribe. I did not mean to do harm, I am sorry!!

He added, “My apologies are extended to all igbos that may not know too. I missed that cos I am deeply affected most around once I’m closer to. Do accept my sorry, I did not mean harm”.

Brymo stated that his words were misconstrued as he didn’t insult any tribe.

“It is very important you understand that this entire fracas began with me seeing in the media that Chimamanda Adichie refused some national honours and had picked up some traditional title in the East at home.

I have clamoured for Igbo presidency in the last few years, you wouldn’t believe it.

Further Clarifying his statement, he said, “When I said ‘F**k Ndi’Igbo to hell with it – the ‘it’ refers to the peddlers of the movement i.e people championing for it.

On insulting the tribe, Brymo said, ” I did not insult the tribe, I am sorry to anyone who it sounded as such to. I was trying to weigh into a very important matter”.

As the 2023 general elections draw closer, it is very evident that we will continue to see different people throwing their support for their faves

But one thing shouldn’t be aligned with giving our support, we should not insult other tribes or other candidates while on it

I believe we can all support our candidates in peace without causing unnecessary war
