Bridgerton Is Netflix’s Biggest Show Ever With 82 Million Streams Globally
On Wednesday 27th January, Netflix announced in a blog post that Bridgerton, their Christmas day released drama that was recently renewed for season 2, has become the streaming service’s “biggest show ever.”
Netflix said that Bridgerton was watched by a record 82 million households globally and counting since it began streaming on Christmas Day. The show, produced by Shonda Rhimes, made top 10 in every country except Japan and hit number one in 83 countries including the United States, the streaming service said.
Regé-Jean Page, who stars as the s*xy, slightly scandalous Duke of Hastings, reacted to the news on Twitter, writing, “82 MILLION. With love from all of us to all of you 🙏🏽❤️💫#BRIDGERTON.”

It is not surprising that Bridgerton is one of the most-watched shows on Netflix as fans can’t get enough of the show’s leads, Phoebe Dynevor and Regé-Jean Page, who play love interests Daphne Bridgerton and Simon Basset.
Viewers can’t help but notice the on-screen chemistry between the titular characters. Steamy scenes and a passionate romance between Daphne and the Duke of Hastings leave fans wondering if they are real-life lovers.
With the huge success Season 1 has enmassed, we can only anticipate for Season 2. The new season will begin filming Spring this year.
