Breach: Over One Million GoDaddy WordPress Users Email Address Leak

GoDaddy has announced that over one million of its WordPress Users email addresses have leaked. The hacker reportedly gained access into its systems using a “compromised password” in early september, 2021.

The company only was aware of the hackers entry on November 17, 2021 after it locked the intruder out and also contacted the SEC. Alongside gained email adressess, the intruder has login passwords of WordPress Admins.

This has let enomorous WordPress Admin private SSL keys exposed. Godaddy is reaching out to all WordPress Admin to reset their passwords and also regenerate security certificates when necessary.

If you are affected by the breach, Godaddy says it will be “contacting all impacted customers directly with specific details.”

Some weeks ago Stock trading platform Robinhood reported that it was hit with a data breach that affects about 7 million of its customers. The said data breach occurred on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, whereby hackers “obtained access to a limited amount of personal information.”

Robinhood says this “data security incident” happened when the hackers tricked a customer support employee into giving them access to Robinhood systems.
Data collected by the hackers are majorly personal like email addresses and full names. Also, the hackers were able to further get additional information from the hack. This includes data of 310 customers in the form of a name, date of birth, as well as zip code.

 

Godaddy says there is an ongoing investigation on the breach. It is working closely with the law enforcement agency SEC. There has been a recent breach and hacking of some many technology companies from Acer and the likes.
