BMW Announces The IX M60 Electric Car With The ‘M’ Branding Scheme

BMW has announced its second electric car under the ‘M’ branding scheme, the iX M60. This electric vehicle is BMW’s latest addition to the Motorsport family. The Motorsport lineup is BMW’s car racing line, and the automaker says its latest car is made with that in mind.

Under the hood is a massive 111.5kWh battery that has about 106.3kWh usability. This delivers around 811 lb-ft of torque. The car features two electric motors and can drive up to 280 miles of range on a single charge.

It is also quick with a 0-60mph acceleration time of 3.6 seconds, just in line with the motorsport spirit.  Charging through a DC fast charging station will deliver about 250kW of power, with about 35 minutes of time to get to 80% full from 10%.

Elsewhere, Another German automaker Mercedes Benz has teased a sporty concept car that is solar-powered, the Vision EQXX electric car. The German automaker claims this vehicle is capable of more than 1,000 kilometres / 648 miles on a single charge.

One polarising feature of the EQXX is its solar roof with 117 solar cells, the automaker says it can add up to 25km of range in a single day. This would be rivalling the budget Sono Motors solar car.

BMW now has plans to electrify all of its car segments, providing an electric variant all the way. It has discounted its i3 electric hatchback and has plans to release an electric version of its X3 SUV. The automaker faces a lot of competition from its home country, the likes of Volkswagen, Mercedes, and Audi are aggressively churning out cars.
