His father had jokingly asked him to make games for others to play instead of playing games developed by others. The young boy had taken this as a challenge and has so far created all sort of games.

Okpara Jr says he likes to build “animal games, car racing games, and running games.” His father saw his passion for computers and decided to buy him a laptop. The boy who says he wants to be a scientist in future uses a free programming app called Scratch 2 to make his games.

He was enrolled by his dad at a camp organised by Codefest International earlier in March 2019. This was where he learned to build games with the free programming app. Okpara Jr has now mastered the craft to the point that it only now takes him thirty minutes to create a mobile game. He has since been able to make 30 mobile games.

In an interview with CNN, Okpara Jr said, “I learned how to build games at a boot camp. Now, I build to keep me busy when I am bored.” His father, Basil Okpara Sr while speaking on his son’s passion said, “There was this day he was on the tablet, as usual, he was so carried away with the game he was playing that I got upset with him,”

“Out of annoyance, I said to him, ‘you are always playing games, can’t you think about building your own games so others can play yours too?’. I was angry when I said it, and I did not know he took it seriously,” he explained. In recent updates, Okpara Sr revealed he now uses Construct 2 Premium to build his games.

Okpara Jr’s games are still in its raw form and can be accessed on any computer with the Scratch 2. However, his father has revealed that one of the games will be available on Google play store in August. The game is titled Frog attack.
