Alleged child Baba Ijesha molester has been denied bail at his first court hearing.
The disgraced actor has been in police custody since April for molesting a 14-year-old. He was denied bail at the Magistrate Court 1 Yaba where he was arraigned on June 16, 2021.
The actor’s lawyer had applied for bail but the court denied and instructed that he be remanded in police custody till July 13th, his next court hearing.
He was also brought up on a four-count charge which he pleaded not guilty.
The actor was arrested by the Lagos State Police Command on April 22nd for molesting the foster child of comedienne Princess.

Recall that the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) had recommended that Baba Ijesha be tried on five count charges. If convicted, the charges could culminate in a life sentence.
“After due consideration of the facts in the case file, the Directorate of Public Prosecutions issued legal advise on the 4th of May, 2021, which is to the effect that a prima facie case has been disclosed against Mr. Olanrewaju James and recommended he be charged under the following provisions of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015″ the commissioner of justice, Moyosore Onigbanjo said in May.
Actor Yomi Fabiyi, who is also his very vocal supporter was among those who were present at the court.
“I want to see how the court (hearing) will go. Because there are so many lacunas, so many things that should have been done. I want to see how the rule of law and justice is being served,” he told The Nation.
