AWS Launches Fleet Management Services For The Automotive Industry

Amazon’s Subsidiary AWS has launched a new fleet management service called the FleetWise. This service will collect data from automaker vehicles in their fleets using sensors and telemetry methods.

This data collection service FleetWise is an end-to-end solution that provides a lot of flexibility. It will smartly filter right from vehicles, thereby reducing the amount of data transferred to the cloud.

Mike Tzamaloukas, AWS general manager for AWS Automotive, says that “The possibilities with data collection campaigns are endless and we are pushing the envelope in that data collection campaigns are not just time-based, are not just event-based, but it’s intelligent data filtering across your entire fleet.”

He further explained that  “..we hope to give the automakers the ability to pull in the terabytes of data generated from all kinds of different cars out there, but at a much higher signal-to-noise ratio.”

Another service announced alongside FleetWise is AWS for “Automotive.” This service already serves companies likes like Rivian, Toyota, and BMW Group. The Amazon Automotive service leverages Amazon’s 20 years of experience with autonomous systems, robotics, and machine learning.

It will help the automotive industry improve the safety and performance of self-driving systems. While providing supply chain services that will track automakers production process with unprecedented efficiency.

Rivian is currently developing software, charging solutions and services to help increase uptime and lower operating costs. Its new fleet management system will help businesses achieve ambitious sustainability goals.
