Magdaline Yohana, a National Youth Service Corps member died while participating in a parade in Bauchi State. The tragic incident occurred on 1st April 2019.
The deceased had been 28 and was allegedly asthmatic.
According to reports, Yohana hailed from Harshuwa, Kwaturu district, in the Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State. She was an orphan who saw herself through school and was the second graduate in her hometown.
Sources allege that the late Yohana had allegedly complained to an NYSC official about her health status. She had complained about being asthmatic and unable to participate in the regular parade.
However, reports reveal that the official allegedly dismissed her claim. “The official told her that corps members were fond of giving flimsy excuses in order to avoid parade,” a corps member alleged.
The late Yahona reportedly participated in the morning meditation after which she had slumped. According to sources, they then rushed her to the camp clinic. Her situation got worse and she was transferred to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital in Bauchi. Soon after, she gave up the ghost.
The deceased was laid to rest on 5th April.
The management of the NYSC in the state remains silent over the incident.
