Art Meets Tech: 9mobile Partners ALitFest20 To Provide Subsidised Data For Attendees
The Abuja Literary + Arts Festival 2020, stylised as ALitFest20, has announced partnering with Nigerian telecom company 9mobile. The tech giant will be providing attendees that use its network a subsidised data consumption plan for the event.
Facing the possibility of canceling the 3rd edition of its festival due to the global pandemic; the organisers of the Abuja Literary + Arts Festival opted for a virtual event instead.
Since the date was announced in the first half of the year, they have been making arrangements to make the virtual festival a success. No one knows for sure how it would turn out as it is the first time the event would be held strictly online.
Yet, Abuja Literary + Arts Festival has mentioned that it would be displaying 100 books and art pieces. Additionally, it would host 50 authors and speakers from around the world and hold 20 topic panels and discussions.

To further assist participants to attend the online festival, it entered an agreement with 9mobile. A Tweet from the official festival’s handle says:
If you’ve been worrying about data costs for streaming #ALitFest20, here’s succour.
9Mobile is giving a special data offer to participants that are new & existing subscribers.

Abuja Literary + Arts Festival 2020 or ALitFest20 is themed The Art of Empathy. It claims that going virtual affords a ‘wider participation’ from the growing literary community in Africa. Which is understandable, as it will help surmount geographical barriers.
To learn more about what to expect from the festival, you can check out its official website. It starts on 12th August 2020 and ends on 15th August 2020. 9mobile and ALitFest20 are encouraging people to adapt to the ‘new normal’.
