The disorder can also lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems. That is why it is important to look out for if you think you — or a loved one — are depressed.

A lot of people face depression for different reasons. Some fall into depression after the death of a loved one or an emotional breakdown. Most times people do not know they have fallen into depression until they are knee-deep into it.

Here are some signs that you or someone around you might be depressed:

  • Feeling unnecessarily sad or moody.
  • Reduced interest or pleasure in activities you once enjoyed.

  • Unintentional weight loss or gain.
  • Sleeping too much or too little.
  • Agitation, restlessness, and pacing up and down.
