Airbnb is offering a lifetime opportunity to live rent free in Italy for a whole year. This dwelling is right at the heritage home in Sicily, Italy. The company’s website offers a chance to apply and live in this town, provided you manage the place for visiting guests.
That’s not the best treat, Airbnb would also reward you by keeping all of the earnings from the home during the stay. The village of Sambuca has a population of 6,000, and Airbnb recent initiative is to promote the tourism and culture of the settlement.
“Airbnb is on the search for the ideal candidate to live rent-free for a year and host from a decayed-turned-designer Italian heritage home,” said Airbnb. “With a newfound flexibility to live and work remotely, one person will be given the opportunity to relocate to Sicily with their family, partner, or friend and move into this uniquely restored house.”
In 2019 Sambuca ran a “1 Euro House “ campaign, properties selling for less than a dollar. Airbnb snapped an apartment at that time, as had Italian architecture firm Studio Didea transform it.

The apartment in question is a two-floor building renovated with local materials. The ground floor has a small living room with a king-size master bedroom and en-suite bedroom. While the first floor has another living room, bathroom, kitchen, workspace, and mezzanine bedroom with a king-size bed.
Right after, is a second floor that has a third living room with a queen-size sofa bed. Local mayor Leonardo Ciaccio says “We’re looking for someone who wants to live with the local population and participate in all the important moments of the community, from the grape harvest to olive picking and we can’t wait to welcome whoever gets selected.” The winner can relocate to this building with their partner, family or friend. Whoever the lucky winner is, will begin his/her stay on June 30 2022, assuming pandemic rules allow.
