Apple’s Watch Series 7 has a fast-charging system that is not compatible with other generation chargers. The tech company says it offers 33% faster charging and charge to 80% in about 45 minutes.
The only way to access those speeds is to use the charger that comes in the box. As an Apple loyalist that uses the company’s latest and greatest yearly. Some users barely use the accessories in their boxes; hence they might not be aware of the new speeds for the series 7.
This new fast charger has the same external look and feels as the older watch cables but with new internals. However, you would need to have a fast USB-C charger in order to harness those speeds.

Apple itself recommends getting its 20W USB-C charger, a classic Apple move. But the likes of Samsung, Anker with 20W charging capabilities would do the trick conveniently.
Apple has discontinued its Watch series 6 from its official offering on its website. This is after three weeks of the newly launched Apple Watch Series 7. The new smartwatch has a bigger and thinner display with new internals.
Interestingly, the far older Watch Series 3 is still available for sale on its website from a base model price of $199.

Apple’s newest series 7 watches are available for purchase, its base model starts at $399. However, the older Series 6 is still available at physical stores around the globe, probably not cheaper. They are a fantastic choice for users that would like to save some money.
These new charging cables won’t magically enable fast charging on older Apple Watch models. Its site clearly says “Fast charging is only compatible with Apple Watch Series 7. Other models will have regular charge times.” This move brings fast charging capabilities to the company’s line of products.
