Apple Reportedly Closes One Of Its Texas Store After A Covid-19 Outbreak

Apple has reportedly temporarily closed its Southlake Texas retail store after reports of the Covid-19 outbreak. News Outlet NBC Says 22 staff have tested positive for the global virus, and precisely 4 staff had the virus shortly after Back Friday.

The NBC shared that some employees of the store had earlier complained that the store was not able to keep social distancing. Two employees were quoted saying the store customers were “shoulder to shoulder” standing on Black Friday.

Apple retail employees are required to wear a face mask in the stores. Unvaccinated workers need to test twice weekly, while Vaccinated workers test once weekly. In sharp contrast, its corporate employees work from home and will return to offices in a hybrid system mode next year February.

In July 2020, Apple announced that it would reclose another 30 retail stores across seven states as the US records a spike in COVID-19 cases. This brings the total number of closed stores to 77 which is more than 25 percent of its US stores.

“Due to current COVID-19 conditions in some of the communities we serve, we are temporarily closing stores in these areas. We take this step with an abundance of caution as we closely monitor the situation and we look forward to having our teams and customers back as soon as possible,” Apple said in a statement to CNBC.

Apple is constantly monitoring local health data in determining the stores that it will reopen or reclose. All the reopened stores also require that staff and customers wear masks.

 

Apple temporarily closes its Texas stores

The Southlake store virus outbreak won’t happen if the manager allowed sick employees to stay back at home. The manager reportedly encouraged sick employees to resume work and didn’t effect enough social distancing at the store.
