Apple is gearing towards post-COVID-19 work and is starting to reopen its Silicon Valley Headquarters and other offices. Bloomberg reports that for the tech giant’s employees, optional testing, closed kitchens, and a requirement to wear masks will be the new normal.
Some of Apple’s employees, including hardware and software engineers, had started returning to its campus since May 2020. Other tech companies like Facebook and Google had also announced their plans to reopen their own campuses in July 2020.
However, they’d open at limited capacity, allowing most of their employees to work remotely till the end of the year. Amazon and Microsoft on their own part will stick to making most of their employees working remotely till at least October 2020 while Twitter says employees can work from home for as long as they want.

Part of the protocols to ensure safety will see Apple limit the number of people permitted in confined spaces at its offices. This is unlike how its employees would work in close proximity before the pandemic.
Another measure is permitting only as few as two people in the elevators per time. Normally, the same elevator would fit up to 10 employees at a time. Apple will also close many break-room kitchens and post signs requesting its employees to wear masks.
It is believed that Apple’s secretive culture and a focus on building hardware have reportedly made it difficult for the company to work remotely for long periods. The new measures, however, will help it slowly return to normal.
