Apple Releases iOS 15.1 With The Much Anticipated SharePlay And More

Apple is currently releasing iOS 15.1 OS with the SharePlay update to its iPhones around the globe. This new feature allows friends or families to watch movies, content or listen to music at the same time.

The new SharePlay feature was first announced some months ago and was supposed to ship with iOS 15 but was delayed. Also available for the latest iOS update is a new Auto Macro toggle for iPhone 13 Pros. This now allows users to turn off the automatic macro mode if they find it annoying.

ProRes video capture that was announced alongside the iPhone 13 Pro is now available in iOS 15 with better quality video at 30fps/1080p resolution on 128GB models or 4k resolution on 256 or higher models.

Apple has made some improvements to the iPhone camera on the previous iOS 15, adding an option to disable Night Mode. Originally, Night Mode is always on by default to improve image lightning.

That very act has distorted lots of pictures, leading to online complaints from the Apple community. iOS 15 now allow users to toggle off Night mode, so the camera doesn’t remember to put it on.

You can now manually put the Night Mode on or off, and the iPhone’s camera would not put it back by itself.

The company’s video & call application “Facetime” is receiving major updates positioning it as the next major “Zoom” and “Microsoft Teams” alternative.

The app receives some love from spatial audio, and voice isolation which helps to reduce annoying background noise.

Messages got some love also. iOS 15 makes it possible to show others when you have enabled “Do Not Disturb Mode” as an automatic reply in Messages. Users can set an override for this feature for urgent messages.

Apple went big on privacy controls in iOS 15, users will receive an App Privacy Report of a seven-day summary. This  shows how often apps used location information as well as their phone’s microphone or cameras.

The Mail app will also block tracking pixels often used in marketing emails to check if an email was opened or read.

New updates to the Messaging app

Apple also debuted a new feature called LiveText, which has the ability to search text in photos using Artificial intelligence. A feature available on Google Pixel phones for some time now.

Users can now add their COVID vaccine card to their Apple wallet for identification. Even better news if you have a HomePod or Mini version, iOS 15 now adds Audio and Dolby Atmos with Spatial Audio. Apple’s iOS 15 is available to the public with support only for iPhone 6s and newer models.
