Apple Plan To Release Its New iPad Pro Hit By Production Delays

Bloomberg in a report says that the next Apple iPad Pro may face supply constraints at launch due to production issues. According to the report, Apple’s suppliers are having issues with low manufacturing yields for the new Mini LED display which is, according to rumours, the key feature of the new 12.9-inch model.

The report also states that one of the manufacturers has paused production. According to the Nikkei, iPad production had been hit by a shortage of displays and display components. The report however did not specify which models the delay is affecting. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the new iPad Pro lineup is still expected to be announced later this month.

According to Bloomberg, Apple plans to announce the iPads in two sizes as early as the second half of April. The MiniLED screen will help improve contrast ratios and deliver a brighter picture exclusively to the pricier 12.9-inch model, however, there will be a smaller size without the screen. The production hiccup could leave Apple with no option but to ship the larger iPad Pro at a later date.

Taiwan-based suppliers Ennostar; General Interface Solution Holding; and Taiwan Surface Mounting Technology are reportedly among the key providers of MiniLED technology.

Apple plans to add a much faster processor on par with its latest M1 chip to the iPad. It also plans to add a faster USB-C port compatible with more accessories and monitors and improved cameras.
