Apple Music Launches New Stations, Renames Beats 1 To Apple Music 1

Apple is renaming its flagship radio station from Beats 1 to Apple Music 1. Beats 1 radio was the only place Beats branding showed up in the Apple Music offerings.

The station has been running for more than five years now and Apple calls it, “one of the most-listened-to radio stations in the world.”

Apple Music will also launch other new mainstream radio stations today, 28th August 2020. One of them is Apple Music Hits and it will focus on the biggest music hits from the ‘80s, ‘90s, and 2000s; implying that it prefers the good ol’ days.

Hosts like Sayde Donovan, Estelle, Lowkey, Jenn Marino, George Stroumboulopoulos, Sabi, Nicole Sky, and Natalie Sky will anchor shows on the station.

Artist-led shows will be anchored by the likes of Backstreet Boys, Ciara, Mark Hoppus, Huey Lewis, Alanis Morissette, Snoop Dogg, Meghan Trainor, Shania Twain, etc.

Apple Music is also launching a Country station. Country music is one of the biggest genres in the US, therefore, Apple Music could be banking on its popularity.

The Country station will also have artist hosts like; Kelleigh Bannen, Ty Bentli, Bree, Alecia Davis, Ward Guenther, Nada, and Tiera.

Weekly shows and artist-led programmes will feature too. Hosts will include Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, etc.

Anyone can tune into Apple Music 1. You don’t need an Apple Music subscription to tune in so long as you have the Apple Music app on your device. Apple did not state if Hits and Country will be available for everyone like Apple Music 1.
