Apple CEO Tim Cook reveals that the company does not plan to do anything about making it better to text an Android phone using an iPhone.
He says that he would like to convert everyone to iPhone and has not gotten users requesting for improved cross-device texting. His statement comes not too long after Google launched a #GetTheMessage campaign aimed at improving texting between devices using different OS.
“I don’t hear our users asking that we put a lot of energy on that, on this point,” Cook had said when asked about Apple’s plans at Vox Media’s Code Conference in Beverly Hills, California.
Then, he told another person, that complained about the poor quality in videos sent across devices, to buy their mother an iPhone.

In a recent report, we revealed that the iPhone now amounts for more than 50% of the smartphones in the US. Meaning that all Android phone makers combined have sold less than Apple in the country recently.
Thus, approaching monopoly (or something like that) Apple does not see any reason to take its foot off the gas of exclusivity. This includes not adopting the new RCS tech that Android phones use, in a bid to force people to get iPhones to stay better connected to their loved ones who already own the product.
Apple’s strategy is a new path being charted and we don’t know the legal ramifications it holds. We can only continue to observe how it would play out.
