Android 12 Is Coming To Select Google Pixel Phones First And Others Last

Android 12, Google’s latest smartphone OS update will be available for select Pixel phones first, with support for other Android phones later. Google says it will be available in the “next few weeks” according to its post from its Developers site.

Pixel smartphones eligible for the new update are Pixel 3, 3A, 4, 4A, 4A 5G, 5 and 5A. The soon to be released Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will ship with the new update out of the box. The company has pushed the Android 12 source to Android Open Source Project (AOSP) on October 4 2021. It also says Android 12 will be available for Samsung Galaxy, OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, Tecno, Vivo and Xiaomi smartphones later this year.

Also announced is it’s Developers Summit that will be held from October 27-28. So what’s new for Android 12? Google is releasing a new UI based on a new design language called Material You.

Google’s Personal Safety app now has an exclusive record and upload of videos during emergencies for its pixel phones. This according to reports from Android Police and XDA-Developers, that hints at the new exclusive feature from Google.

To activate this feature, users can head to the personal safety app, press the Pixel power button five times. You can enable automatic sharing from the app to your emergency contacts.

Right now Pixel phones can now active this security feature after the newest update for the personal safety app. The app will automatically record continuously for up to 45 minutes; that’s if you have loads of storage.

Also, if your phone was connected to the internet before and during the emergency situation, it will automatically back up the video to your Google Account for seven days.
