Amazon has announced that it intends to create 7,000 jobs at its sites across the UK in the coming months. The company says the new roles will be permanent.

The addition means that Amazon will have created 10,000 jobs in the UK in 2020 alone. It also means that the company will now have a total permanent UK workforce of more than 40,000.

The new jobs will be created at Amazon’s warehouses, sorting centers, delivery sites, and in its offices. More than 50 Amazon sites will bring in extra workers. The number includes a new warehouse in the North East of England, which opened in May 2020.

The new roles will include engineers, graduates, human resources, IT, health and safety, and finance specialists, according to Amazon. Teams who fulfill customer orders will also get new staff to help the company meet growing customer demand.

“We’re proud to be creating 10,000 new permanent roles across our UK network of fulfillment centers, sort centers, and delivery stations offering competitive wages and comprehensive benefits starting on day one. Our people have played a critical role in serving customers in these unprecedented times and the new roles will help us continue to meet customer demand and support small and medium-sized businesses selling on Amazon.

“We are employing thousands of talented individuals in a diverse range of good jobs from operations managers and tech professionals through to people to handle customer orders,” Stefano Perego, Amazon’s vice president of European customer fulfillment said.
