Actress Adunni Ade has revealed she was blacklisted from Nollywood English since 2017.
The actress made the reveal during a chat with Chude Jideonwo on the WithChude show.
Adunni Ade also shared that she was noticed a decline in her career after her AMVCA nomination in 2017.
“I feel, I might be wrong, that I was outcasted out of the English [industry] I won’t say 100 percent,” Adunni Ade shared. “But I have had jobs taken away from me, colleagues who have now become big names yank my name off. Or make lies to producers and EPs on reasons why they should not give me a job.
“Deals, endorsements have been yanked off my feet because they don’t know me or they don’t like me or I am not their person because they would rather put someone that they are cool with who would give them a cut than me who truly deserves it”

This is not the first time there would complaints of blacklisting and favourtism in Nollywood. Earlier this month, Ruth Kadiri and Halima Abubukar had called out the organisers of the Eko star television and film awards for bestowing awards on filmmakers in their clique.
In the same vein, Nollywood producer Blessing Egbe accused top executives in the filmmaking industry of making it almost impossible for producers to make money. She further revealed that producers also threaten producers with blacklisting culture, forcing them to keep working for peanuts.
Producers take d most hit in all of this & because of d fear of being blacklisted, We keep mute. For how long? How do you owe a producer for content that u have licensed or aired? How do you shut d door to good content, or underprice it bcos of sentiments? Producers are VICTIMS!
