Adekunle Gold And Banky W Tweet Against Social Media Bill

Top Nigerian celebrities such as Adekunle Gold and Banky W are tweeting against the Social media bill.


Both of them took to their Twitter pages to speak against this bill that they deem as against “Freedom of Speech”.


Adekunle Gold was quick to blast Senator Elisha Abbo who he feels should have been removed from the senate.

Olubankole Wellington popularly called Banky W, also gave his two cents on the issue. He had run for  Eti-Osa Federal Constituency seat in Nigeria’s House of Representatives and lost.


Banky applauded Senator Chimaroke Nnamani for being the only senator to speak against the bill.


He also urged social media users to sign the petition stoping the senate from passing the bill. The singer said it is an infringement on the fundamental human rights of the citizenry.

It is important to remember that Senator Bbab Na’Allah suggested a form of social media control back in 2015. After protests, the Senate withdrew the bill. However, with one more reading left to pass it into law, journalists and other users are sitting on the edge of their seats.
