Nick Cordero broadway actor who had his right leg amputated while recovering from COVID-19 has woken up from a medically induced coma.
His wife Amanda Kloots made the revelation via her Instagram story stating that Nick was on his way to recovery.
She said the actor who spent some time on a ventilator, has battled multiple Covid-19 complications and last month had to have his right leg amputated.
Cordero has been in the hospital in Los Angeles since the end of March 2020, where he was initially admitted for pneumonia.
He later tested positive for coronavirus and was put in a medically induced coma to help his breathing.
According to his wife, he went into septic shock while in hospital, and had two mini-strokes.
He also had blood clot complications that resulted in the amputation of his leg.
A fundraiser set up to support the couple has raised more than $500,000 (£407,000). This is to settle medical bills and make their new home wheelchair-accessible.

On Instagram, Kloots said Cordero was “extremely weak” but was “following commands” which means his mental status is coming back.
“Even closing his eyes, takes it out of him. They’re waiting for him to regain strength, of course, time and recovery will help with that and then eventually PT will help him get stronger,” she said
Earlier this month she offered some good news, stating that even with a low blood count, tests showed Cordero was not bleeding internally.
Cordero’s theatre credits include stints in Waitress, Rock of Ages, and the musical version of A Bronx Tale.
Nick Cordero has starred in a number of stage productions and appeared on TV.
He is best known for his 2014 portrayal of Cheech, a mob soldier with a flair for drama, in Broadway’s “Bullets over Broadway.”
The role earned him a Tony Award nomination for best-featured actor in a musical.
