The best time to wear sneakers is when they are squeaky clean with a box-fresh appeal. No one wants to be caught wearing dirty sneakers as this says a lot about you. Still, it’s not quite easy to keep them clean all the time, especially if you wear them regularly.

They look good and feel comfortable, but it takes one wear to dull that new-shoe appeal. You may get away with darker-coloured sneakers, but the white ones can be a handful. A little walk down the street and the dust is already stuck on them. Just a simple jog to keep fit and you already look like you can’t quite manage to keep your footwear clean.
That first-day jitters when you get new sneakers doesn’t last long. After sighting the stains and dirt, you ask yourself why you even bothered wearing them. However, if you aren’t aware that cleaning sneakers can be easy, you would think in a similar manner. Sure, it takes a lot of steps and having to do it constantly can be tiring, but when you get a hang of it you would clean yours with such ease.
(Note: Before cleaning, consider the material your sneakers are made of, the type of cleaning products you need to use, and how you should use them.)
This technique is versatile. However, materials like suede or mesh require a special technique.

How to clean your sneakers
Step 1
Get everything you need on a worktable and place within reach. Then begin by removing the shoelaces from your sneakers.
Step 2
Bang against the soles to remove dirt, and use a toothbrush to scrub away the remaining dirt.
Step 3
Use wipes to gently wipe away spots. Use a dab and twist motion to achieve this to help remove the stain faster.
Step 4
Soak a wash cloth in warm water and a mild liquid detergent. Squeeze out and gently wipe away stains from the sneakers.
Step 5
If the shoes need extra attention, you should deep-clean them. Do this by soaking a brush in soapy water and scrubbing the sneakers thoroughly. Brush the upper and midsoles.
Step 6
Rinse the washcloth and use warm water to remove the excess soapsuds.
Step 7
You can either brush your laces clean or throw them into the washing machine.
Step 8
Air dry your sneakers indoors overnight at room temperature.
