As revealed in a trailer for the forthcoming IMAX film, “Jesus Is King”, Kanye West is all out to ‘spread the gospel and not here for your entertainment’. However, the slightly more than one-minute long trailer doesn’t give much away.

In the video, a choir sings scripture from the book of Mark 1:15. In the words of Jesus Christ, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”

West also states in a voice-over, “I’m an evangelist, so my music, my films, every conversation, every room I go in, we’re here to save souls, save you from eternal damnation.”

Directed by Nick Knight, the film will feature West’s ongoing Sunday Service series that takes place in Roden Crater. it is an Arizona-based art installation by light and space artist James Turrell.

Furthermore, Imax will collaborate with Kanye West on the concert film. The artist will release the film exclusively in Imax theatres around the world on Friday, 25th October 2019.

In a statement, Imax said,

“Filmed in the summer of 2019, Jesus Is King brings Kanye West’s famed Sunday Service to life in the Roden Crater, visionary artist James Turrell’s never-before-seen installation in Arizona’s Painted Desert. This one-of-a-kind experience features songs arranged by West in the gospel tradition along with music from his new album Jesus Is King — all presented in the immersive sound and stunning clarity of Imax.”

But we haven’t forgotten about the “Jesus Is King” album initially slated for a September 29 release. The film is an accompaniment to the yet-unreleased upcoming West album of the same name.

His wife, Kim Kardashian West shared what appeared to be a handwritten tracklist with the date September 27th on social media. Song titles from the forthcoming album include “Garden”, “Selah”, “God Is”, and “Baptised”. This made fans anticipate the new album, but the date passed with no album release.

However, West took to Twitter to post more details about his new album.

Meanwhile, the album will feature 13 gospel songs arranged by West and performed by his Sunday Service choir. It will also have new music from his upcoming album of the same title.
