7 ways that Siri can make your life better

Siri, the Apple virtual assistant, is not just a fun addition to your devices, although, it can be quite entertaining. Many people the world over have found ways to make this tool work for them and improve their quality of life.

Here, you will see seven ways you can use Siri to improve your productivity and generally make your life better.

1. Launch an app

While you may have not considered it but it could take you a couple of seconds to launch an app, especially one that is not on your home screen. With Siri, all you need is a simple request such as “Launch KongaPay,” and you can start using the app right away.

2. Mark an event on your calendar

As soon as a meeting or an event comes to your notice, you can just instruct Siri to mark it in your Calendar app and that is it! You don’t need to stop what you are doing to set a date.

3. Set reminders

Just like the above, if something comes to mind that you need to do later, you can ask Siri to remind you of the task at a later time or date.

4. Start a countdown

If you have to leave the kitchen briefly but don’t want your noodles overcooked, you can tell Siri to start a countdown for the approximate time you need to come back to check what you have on fire.

5. Set an Alarm

Sometimes, a countdown may not be enough. You can set an alarm for a particular time “02:00 am” or a particular duration “four hours.”

6. Note something

If you come across an interesting factoid that you want to wow your friends with later or an article idea, you ca have Siri write that down by telling it to “Note that …”

7. Make a list

Just tell the assistant to make a list of something and when it has created the list, you can start adding item to it and the list goes to your Reminders app where you can check them off as you do them or buy them, as the case may be.

It is easier to get the best out of Siri when you think of it as a personal assistant always on call and ready to perform duties. Although, you may need to familiarise yourself with some command words, which are basically regular words you use every time.
