Coffee scrub to exfoliate

The caffeine in coffee promotes the circulation of blood tremendously. Coffee scrub is a great exfoliator as it removes dead skin cells and tightens the pores of the skin, thus it works incredibly well as a remedy for cellulite. It also helps to rejuvenate the skin restoring its healthy sheen and glow.

Honey for face toner

There’s a reason this magic liquid is listed in the ingredients section of almost every beauty product, it just won’t let you age.

It helps you balance your skin’s pH level while moisturising your skin. Now, you can prepare your own face toner using honey as a beauty treatment. As honey is an excellent humectant, it seals in moisture to keep the skin soft. Mix it with apple cider vinegar for best results.

Start by adding water to ½ cup of raw honey, and stir this mixture. Then, add about two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to this mixture. Transfer this solution into an empty spray bottle for easy access.

Banana Peels

One of the key nutrients present in bananas, especially their peels, is potassium. Potassium is said to promote hair growth as it helps in controlling dandruff.

The antioxidants and minerals present in banana peels also help prevent breakouts. Rubbing the peel gently over your pimples and acne can soothe them, reduce inflammation and make the pimples disappear.

Banana peels are also loaded with fatty acids that help treat issues such as psoriasis and eczema. Banana peels rubbed over the forehead and cheeks can help tighten the skin and give it a fresher, healthier look.

To use as a beauty treatment;

  • Rub the inside of the banana peel on your face before bed and leave it overnight.
  • As it dries, your skin will absorb the vitamins and nutrients in the peel.
  • Wash it off with warm water in the morning

Cucumbers for dull skin

Did you know that 96% of a cucumber’s component is water? This makes them an excellent hydrating addition to your DIY skin treatments. They’re generally safe for sensitive skin due to an absence of harsh, potentially irritating ingredients.

The sun, accumulated dead skin, and lack of exfoliation can make the skin on the face appear dull. But, this vegetable can help. Because of its anti-inflammatory and hydrating properties, cucumbers rejuvenate the skin and bring back the glow. To use, mix a part of cucumber juice with lemon juice. Then, apply on the face and let it sit for 10-15 mins. Pat dry with a clean and damp face towel.

Remove excess hair product build with baking soda

If you use several hair products on your hair regularly, then you’ll need to rinse with this cooking ingredient every now and then. Take a quarter of baking soda and apply it thoroughly to your hair. Wash down with favourite shampoo to remove product build-up so your hair stays clean and healthy.

Tea Bags for dark circles

Teabags can help reduce the appearance of dark circles under the eyes and puffy eyes. Place a tea bag in hot water and allow it cool. Then drain tea bags and place them over the eyes for about 20 minutes. Make sure the envelopes have room temperature or slightly warm. After this time, rinse your face to remove the tea residue.

Chamomile tea bags are ideal as a treatment for dark circles. Teabags decongest and ameliorate inflammation, significantly reducing puffy eyes. Also, after using them, you will feel a calmness come over you.
